FAQ - MODELING INDUSTRY
1. What are the basic requirements to become a model?
Structure Model Management looks for potential models that have unique looks, strong personality, and character, scouting for male, female and non-binary models. We are an inclusive, diverse and body positive agency. Confidence and passion are key factors in our consideration.
2. How do I start my modeling career?
To start your modeling career with Structure Model Management, fill out the application above, include current fashion or selfie images and one of our scouting and management representatives will review your application. After review, applications that show strong interest, unique character and personality, and potential will be offered an interview, upon which they will discuss next steps.
3. Do I need professional photos to apply to a modeling agency?
Not necessarily. Structure Mgmt accepts natural photos with no makeup, neutral clothing, and simple backgrounds. Professional photos can help but are not required.
4. What types of modeling are there?
Runway Fashion, Editorial Fashion, Commercial, Fitness, Plus-size, Lifestyle, Petite, and Parts modeling (hands, feet, etc). Structure Mgmt also looks for unique opportunities including acting roles.
5. What should I include in my modeling portfolio?
Structure Model Management helps build a strong portfolio, typically including, Headshots (natural & professional), full-body, a mix of poses and expressions, and lifestyle or themed photos.
6. Do I need to meet height or size requirements to become a model?
While traditional fashion modeling has height and size standards, Structure Mgmt pursue all body types and all heights. Unique looks can also open doors.
7. Is it possible to become a model with no experience?
Yes, many successful models start with no experience. Structure Mgmt looks specifically for aspiring models that can grow and develop into leading modeling examples. Focus on leaning the basics, building a strong portfolio, and signing with a supportive agency like Structure Mgmt.
9. How do I prepare for a modeling audition or casting call?
Dress in neutral clothing and makeup, bring your portfolio, be punctual, professional, and confident. Ensure to study current fashion trends and practice, practice, practice. Models should be practicing posing and runway model walks in front of a mirror, family, or friends and video yourself for your own review. Don't give up on yourself, that is why Structure Mgmt is here to give you the support to achieve your success. We won't give up on you if you don't give up on yourself. Patience. persistence, a positive mental attitude, and not comparing yourself to others are the foundational elements for success in the fashion modeling industry.
10. Do I need to pay an agency to represent me?
Structure Model Management does not charge upfront fees. We may require the model to expand their portfolio and seek practice in the forms of professional photo shoots. We do earn a commission between 10-25% for the placements Structure Mgmt secures for you.
11. What are “comp cards,” and do I need one?
Comp cards (composite cards) are marketing tools with your photos, measurements, and contact information. Structure Model Management use them to showcase your look and market your for placement opportunities.
12. How do I stay safe while pursuing model opportunities?
How you stay safe is by following the direction of Structure Model Management agent. Not giving out personal information, and forwarding all placement inquires to your management team at Structure Mgmt.
13. How do I mange rejection in the modeling industry?
Rejection is common in model and doesn’t reflect your worth. Stay resilient, improve your skills, and keeping trying. Different agencies and clients look for different types of models. Always keep a positive mental attitude, stay health physically, mentally, and emotionally. Always have a healthy, nutritious, and balanced eating program, and be physically active. If you have questions and concerns, and need guidance and support reach out to a Structure Mgmt agent or manager. Remember every successful fashion model faces some form of rejection, it is never personal, it is unfortunately a part of the industry, out of rejection comes success.
14. What is the earning potential of a model?
Earnings vary widely based on the type of modeling, location, and experience. Different projects and clients pay various amounts, factors include varying clients, project budget, duration of project, location of project, and type of project. The income protentional for a fashion model is limitless, it depends largely to your level of consistency and perseverance. Success is not an overnight achievement.
